In mitologia e in religione lo psicopompo è un traghettatore di anime, un messaggero dell'aldilà, una sorta di demiurgo tra il mondo sensibile e il mondo sovrasensibile, così come dovrebbe intendersi il Cinema in età contemporanea.
Non una divinità in senso proprio, poiché non dovrebbe giudicare gli uomini né assisterli, ma limitarsi a traghettarli negli impossibili mondi ultraterreni.
